installation video
The following video explains step by step how to set up and install your new coffee printer. Below you will find the appropriate description and important information.
Step-by-step instructions
1. Unpack
Please make sure that you do not reach into the housing of the coffee printer when you unpack it (see pictures).
It can happen that you damage the height sensors installed inside the printer.

2. Remove transport lock
Now carefully remove the polystyrene transport lock from the coffee printer housing by slowly pulling it out vertically (see image).
3. Fold up the tablet
With the help of the small handle on the top right of the tablet, it can be easily folded up and down again (see pictures).

4. Connect and switch on
First connect the power plug to the power cord. Plug one end into a power outlet and the other into the matching port on the back of the printer (see image 1).
To turn on the printer, press the round power button on the back of the printer (see image 2).
4. Put on the underlay pad
Next, place the underlay pad on the lifting arm. At the same time, this acts as a kind of target so that the drink can always be placed in the middle.

1. Set system language
Under Settings (gear wheel at the top right of the start screen) you will find the item "Language".
Here you can change the system language.

2. Establish a WLAN connection
Go to Settings (gear in the top right corner of the home screen) and click on "WIFI". Here you can now select your WiFi network and enter your password if necessary.

First connect the SelfieCam to the USB port on the back of the coffee printer (image 1).
You can place the SelfieCam anywhere (e.g. on the printer's tablet; see figure 2).
To open the camera, click on the camera icon at the bottom right of the home screen. By clicking the shutter button, you take a picture. This is now on the start screen.
SelfieCam also works without internet!

1. Install SN code
There is a silver sticker on your cartridge with an 8-digit code. This is your SN code.
Select "Cartridge" or "Replace Cartridge" in the settings. Enter your SN code below.
Above you can see how long the code is still valid.
Important:
-Printer must be connected to the internet for this
- Please pay attention to capital letters
-If an SN code is already stored, this step can be skipped.
-An SN code can only be activated once.
-Please do NOT change the SN code if it has not expired (either after 800 prints or after 6 months)
-Even if you change the cartridge, please DO NOT change the SN code only if it has expired in the system!

2. Insert cartridge
Go to the settings and click on "Print head" or "Nozzle". The cartridge holder then moves to the center of the housing.
Take the cartridge and carefully remove the protective film from the nozzle.
Now hold the cartridge so that the nozzle is pointing down and to the right of you.
Now carefully click the cartridge into the holder. Place the cartridge vertically onto the holder from above and click it in from the side.
Important:
Please do not "push" the cartridge into the holder.
3. Take out the cartridge
To remove the cartridge, gently "pull" the small black protruding handle on the top right of the cartridge and click the cartridge out of the holder.

1. Upload pictures from smartphone
If the printer is connected to the internet, a QR code will appear under Settings below.
Open your smartphone's camera or a QR code scanning app and scan the QR code.
Now open the URL link. This will take you to our free web app.
Upload = Upload images from your smartphone gallery
Gallery = Upload pre-installed themes
After you have selected the desired image, you can edit it using the menu bar at the top right of your smartphone (move the image, adjust the brightness and contrast or add text, for example).
Next, click on "Next" and then on "Confirm".
Your image is now uploaded and can be found on the printer's home screen.

2. Printing process
- Choose an image from the home screen
- Optional: use the sliders to adjust the brightness and contrast
- Choose the size (diameter) of your mug or glass
S = espresso cup M = small cup L = large cup (e.g. cappuccino) - Place your frothy drink in the center of the target.
Tip: The firmer and finer the foam, the better the print quality. - Now click on Print. The lifting arm and the drink now move up fully automatically until the height sensor detects the upper edge of the cup. The lifting arm then stops and the printing unit moves over the drink with the food cartridge and prints it. Once the process is complete, the lift arm will lower again.
Your drink is now personalized! :-)
Important:
If you use a transparent glass, please make sure that it is filled to the top edge, otherwise the height sensor will detect the glass too late.
Or click on the button below and learn how to save the height of your lenses manually:
1. Cartridge storage
It is best to store your unopened cartridges in their original packaging, standing upright at room temperature.
You can either leave opened cartridges in the printer or (if you use several cartridges, e.g. different colors) take the cartridge and wrap it in cling film. Also store them upright and at room temperature.
Please do not stick tape in front of the nozzle. In the worst case, this can stick and the cartridge can be unusable.
2. Cartridge cleaning
To prevent dirt or dust particles from accumulating on the nozzle or the cartridge nozzle from drying out, it is advisable to clean the nozzle.
However, this is done very easily and quickly:
Simply take a lint-free cloth or kitchen roll and wipe the cartridge nozzle with it once a day. The cartridge does not have to be removed for this.
If the cartridge prints streaks or not at all, click on the following button:
Cartridge does not print / prints streaksextra features
Install watermark
- Click on "Display" or "Display Settings" in the settings
- Select "Watermark" and scan the QR code that appears
- Select the file with your logo (see next section "How do I create a file with my logo)
- Now click on the "watermark switch" in the upper right corner
and then below on "confirm"
All images you upload from now on will have your logo watermarked.
You want to print pictures again without your logo? Simply change the "watermark switch" switch again.

How do I create a file with my logo?
Your logo must have an image format of 800x200 px so that you can upload it as a watermark.
With the help of an image editing program (e.g. Canva) you can convert your logo into the image format 800x200 px.
The logo should be small and placed in the middle (see picture).
If you don't have an image editing program, or if you can't manage it, please contact us!
1. Create a QR code to print out
- Scan the QR code for the image upload (in the settings) with your smartphone
- After you get to our WebApp, copy the URL above
Example:
http://a.coffeecolorato.com/?#/en/select_ws?cartridge_type=1&id=...... - Now Google for "QR Code Generator" and select any one you like
- Now paste the URL of the web app that you copied earlier and your personal QR code will be created for you.
You can now print out this QR code and e.g. stick it in your menu card, attach it to the tables or position it as a standee next to the printer. This allows your guests to send pictures to the printer from anywhere.

2. Menu card integration
So that your guests can send their own pictures to the printer from the table, it makes sense to place the QR code on the tables or in your menu card (see previous section)
Now your guests can scan the QR code with their own smartphones and upload their pictures.
However, so that you know which photo was sent by which guest, you can activate the "image upload number" (see below). This means that every picture that is uploaded gets its own number, which your guest also gets.
Example: A guest scans the QR code, uploads their picture and sees that it has the number 76. He then orders you, for example, "a selfieccino with the number 76".
You now prepare the drink, select the picture with the number 76 on the start screen of the printer and bring the guest his finished selfieccino.
Activate image upload number:
In the settings, select the item "Display" or "Display Settings".
Then click on "Show number" or "Pictures number".
1. How does the height sensor work
Please note that a height sensor is installed in the printer, in which 2 contacts form a kind of light barrier. If something breaks through this barrier (e.g. a cup), then the lifting arm stops and the drink is printed. In this way, the printer can always determine the highest point on the edge of the cup of the drink. However, if you want to print a drink in a glass, keep in mind that the light from the photocell simply breaks through the glass (since it is transparent) and therefore does not stop the platform in time. The glass can thus be knocked over by the pressure unit.
Here is a visual representation of it2. Set glass height manually
If you can't/don't want to fill your glasses to the top edge of the glass every time, you still have the option. deactivate the height sensor and manually save the glass height of your glasses on the printer.
To do this, proceed as follows:
- Take one of your glasses (example glass A) and fill it once with a non-transparent liquid (e.g. milk) up to the top edge of the glass and place the full glass on the printer's lifting arm
- Now select any picture from the home screen so you can choose the cup size (S,M or L).
- Now press and hold one of the cup sizes (S, M or L) for a few seconds. A new window should open:
Here you now have the option of saving the diameter in the left column and the height of your lenses in the right column. - To have the printer scan the glass height first, click on the "AUTO" arrow next to one of the cup sizes. The drink then ramps up, the printer measures the highest point and shuts down again.
For example, you can use cup size S for example glass A, cup size M for example glass B and cup size L for example glass C. - Finally, all you have to do is switch the switch at the top. The laser will then be deactivated and the printer will use the settings you saved instead
If you want the height sensor to be re-enabled so the printer automatically scans cups again, just flip the switch again.
In the settings, click on the "Display" or "Display Settings" button and then select "Brightness". You can now use the slider to adjust the brightness of the tablet screen.
Click on "Software Update" in the settings to download the latest update. Now click on the button at the bottom right until the update starts.
Questions and Troubleshooting
If the cartridge is stored incorrectly or has dried out (e.g. if it has not been printed for a long time), it can happen that the cartridge prints streaks or not at all. This can also happen when you use it for the first time. However, here are 4 simple tricks to quickly fix the problem:
1. Shake
The simplest solution is the following:
Take the cartridge in your hand, hold a handkerchief or something similar in front of the nozzle and shake the cartridge down vigorously 1-2 times (like you would shake an empty ketchup bottle to get the last bit out). The centrifugal movement pushes the food coloring back up to the nozzle.
Gently wipe the nozzle (where the ink comes out) with the tissue again and try to print again.
2. Aspirate with syringe
If shaking the cartridge doesn't help in the first step, please use the supplied syringe (only available with newer deliveries). Put the black rubber tip of the syringe firmly onto the nozzle of the cartridge and then pull the syringe 2-3 times with a jerk. The syringe must be pressed firmly onto the nozzle to create a vacuum. At this point, some paint should enter the syringe and a large blob of paint should have formed on the nozzle. Now carefully wipe off the blob and try to print again.
3. Put in warm water
If the paint has dried heavily on the nozzle, dip the nozzle of the cartridge (not the whole cartridge, just about 0,5 cm) in warm water for about 2 minutes (but must not boil, max. 60°C!). It's best to fill the water in a saucer or something similar.
4. Blow into the cartridge
If all 3 options described above have been unsuccessful, there is one last trick:
Take the cartridge and remove the silver sticker with the SN code. Now blow as hard as you can into the two holes in the cartridge until a thick spot of ink comes out at the front. Clean the nozzle and try to print again.
In order to be able to upload pictures and motifs from the gallery or from your smartphone, the printer must be connected to the internet. You can read here how you can tell whether your printer is connected to the Internet and what you can do if you have Internet problems:
1. How do I know if the printer is connected to the Internet?
- Wi-Fi icon in the top right corner of the home screen is white
- A QR code for image upload will appear under Settings
- Upload any image using the QR code. If it appears on the home screen, you're connected to the internet

2. Why isn't the printer connecting to the internet?
If you are having trouble connecting the printer to the internet, it may be due to one of the following:
- dead zone: Please check whether the printer is possibly in a radio dead zone. Take the printer and place it elsewhere.
- Wrong WiFi frequency: Please note that the printer can only be connected to 2,4 GHz networks. A connection is not possible with WLAN routers with a frequency of 5 GHz.
- public network: The printer also cannot be connected to public networks that require registration or redirect to another website.
If you have checked the 3 possible causes of the error, but still cannot connect to the Internet, you still have the option of connecting the printer to the Internet using a cell phone hotspot:
Simply switch on the mobile hotspot on your smartphone. If you now go to the printer's WiFi settings and search for networks, select your hotspot.
You want to start the printing process, but the lifting arm with the drink doesn't go up automatically? First of all, you need to know that there are 2 sensors installed in the top left and right of the printer housing. These are extremely sensitive and must not be damaged under any circumstances. Because only if the two sensors are intact can there be contact between the two and a kind of light barrier is formed. As soon as something breaks through this light barrier (e.g. a cup), the lifting arm stops. If your drink no longer starts up automatically, it is therefore obvious that it is due to the sensors.
The whole thing is illustrated hereTo rule out that the height sensor is defective, please check the following:

- Laser is off
Go to the settings and click on "Functional Testing". Here you click on "laser on" - solar radiation
Is the printer in the sun or exposed to direct sunlight? Here it can happen that the sunlight breaks through the light barrier and the lifting arm does not go up. It's best to put the printer in the shade and try again. - Contamination / displacement of the sensors
It can also happen that the height sensors are dirty / dusty so that no contact can be made between the two sensors. Please clean them very carefully with a cloth. Also carefully check if the sensors are loose or have slipped. - Checking the lifting arm manually:
If the last 3 possible causes were not the problem, please try the following:
Turn off the printer completely and manually push the lift arm up a few inches. Then press the power button to turn the printer back on. The lifting arm should now automatically come down again. Now try again to see if the problem is resolved.
Here is a visual representation of itYou now have 2 options:
1. Always fill the glasses up to the upper edge of the glass (see pictures)
2. Deactivate the automatic height sensor and save the height of your glasses manually:

You place your drink exactly in the middle of the target of the underlay pad, but the pressure is still not in the middle?
Please try the following:
In the settings, click on "Functional Testing" and then on "center".
Another window will open. You can use the arrows to realign the printing unit and, if necessary, move it by a few millimeters.
The SN code is an 8-digit code that you can find on the silver sticker on your cartridge.
We attach great importance to hygiene and our food coloring has been tested several times by the food authority and is also certified.
With the help of the SN code we want to ensure 2 things:
1. The cartridge is not used beyond the expiry date (6 months)
2. The cartridge is not refilled by customers themselves, for example with harmful ink
Since our cartridges can print approx. 800x and have a shelf life of 6 months, the SN code is only valid for this period.
However, SN codes are not assigned to a specific cartridge. If you store an SN code in the system, this only means that the printer is now activated for 800 prints or can print for the next 6 months. If no SN code is stored in the system, it cannot be printed.
IMPORTANT: Please only exchange the SN code if it has expired in the system.
If you want to insert a new cartridge, but the SN code has not yet expired in the system, then please carry no Enter new SN code. Only when you receive a message from the system.
An SN code can only be activated once.
Having trouble installing your SN code?
It could be because:
- Already preinstalled SN code in the system?
If we have previously stored an SN code in the system, you only need to install a new one once the old code has expired.
In the settings under "Replace cartridge" or "Cartridge" you can see exactly how often you can still print and how long the stored code is still valid. - No Internet connection?
You can only install an SN code when the coffee printer is connected to the internet. - Typed the wrong code?
Did you enter the correct code? Did you make sure all 8 letters are capitalized?
An SN code is always unlocked after activation for 800 prints or for 6 months. After this time you will receive a message from the printer's system.
You need a new SN code. If you still have a cartridge with an SN code that has not yet been activated, you can use this.
Otherwise you can easily order a new cartridge here and receive your new SN code at the same time:
You can also check at any time how long your SN code is still valid.
To do this, simply go to the printer settings and click on "Replace cartridge" or "Cartridge".
You can't upload pictures or you don't even see a QR code for the picture upload? It could be because:
- No Internet?
This is the most common cause of errors.
Photo upload via smartphone is only possible if the printer is connected to the Internet.
Please check your internet connection first. - Image file too big?
It can also happen that the image file you want to upload is too large. The images should ideally not be larger than 3MB.
First check whether the camera is connected correctly and the cable is not loose. One way to check if the selfie cam is broken is as follows:
Plug the camera's USB cable into your laptop/PC and see if the camera works there. If not, please contact us. Your selfie cam is probably defective.
If you don't see a camera icon in the bottom left corner of your home screen, please update the software and check again.
If the cartridge prints streaky or not at all, please first read the section "Cartridge prints streaky / no longer prints"
However, your cartridge works perfectly, but the printed image is still of poor quality? Then it's probably the milk froth. The milk froth should be very firm and fine (few air bubbles).
If the tablet's system app has crashed, select "Fantasia" when restarting and press "Next". If there is a translation error, always press the button at the bottom right if in doubt.
First, make sure that the shipping lock made of styrofoam was removed from the printer housing when unpacking and that there are no cartridges loose in the housing.
